We’ve listened to employers and recent graduates

The scheme has been designed by recent graduates in consultation with employers and practice managers. We know from all of the current research that more needs to be done to aid the transition between university and practice, for example the VOVTP Survey, Spring 2017, found that only around three in ten graduates said that they had received an official induction when they started their first job.

Our 2018 survey of recent veterinary graduates, up to 8 years post-graduation, showed clearly that graduates want more support and a structured CPD programme of clinical and non-clinical CPD to guide them through their first year in practice.
